Congratulations to three former high school players from Indiana that earned AVCA All-America Honors.  Earning FIRST TEAM honors is Alli Stumler (Kentucky).  She attended the Christian Academy of Indiana; her high school coach was Wes Brisco.  Alli and her Kentucky Wildcat team will be competing Saturday for the National Championship. 

Lauren Matthews (Western Kentucky) was named the SECOND TEAM AVCA All-America.  The former Lawrence North standout was coached by Nick Cox.  Her Hilltopper team advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 this season and finished with a 23-1 record.

Earning AVCA All-America HONORABLE MENTION honors is Purdue’s Caitlyn Newton.  She is a graduate of Terre Haute South and was coached by Lisa Davis.  Her Purdue Boilermakers made it to the Regional Finals for their fourth time in school history. 

Rachel Bontrager also earned AVCA All-America HONORABLE MENTION honors.  She competes for Western Michigan and played at Valparaiso High School.  During her senior campaign, Bontrager led the Mid-American Conference with 4.62 kills per set on route to being named MAC Player of the Year. Her high school coach was Katie Lenard.

Kentucky Volleyball head coach Craig Skinner was named the American Volleyball Coaches’ Association’s National Coach of the Year on Thursday.
 
Skinner was also named the Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year by the SEC coaches, and the AVCA’s All-Southeast Region Coach of the Year by the head coaches in the AVCA’s Southeast Region. His Kentucky Wildcat competes4 this Saturday for the National Championship.
