Coach Michelle York returns to the sidelines this season after taking a one year retirement from the game. The IHSVCA uses MaxPreps as our official provider of season statistics for All-State and All-Star consideration. Michelle will help every coach help gain ability to take quality stats for their players.
Michelle was born and raised in Memphis, TN. She played four years of varsity high school volleyball, four years of varsity basketball and four years of varsity softball at Skyview Academy. Michelle went on to play volleyball at the University of Mississippi where she garnered numerous awards including being named to the prestigious Southeastern Conference Team and still holds U of M and SEC records for assists and digs.
She began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Mississippi and moved to the assistant coaching role the next year. Michelle also served as Head Coach and Senior Women’s Administrator at Christian Brothers University before moving to Indianapolis, IN in 2003.
In 2004 Michelle took the helm of the varsity volleyball program at Heritage Christian School and her teams have won 7 Sectional championships and 1 Regional championship. She has twice been named ICGSA South Coach of the Year and was recently inducted into the ICGSA/IHSVCA Hall of Fame.
Michelle served as the President of the volleyball committee for the ICGSA for 7 years and now serves as the Chief Financial Officer and a founding member of the IHSVCA. She also currently serves as the Athletic Director at Heritage Christian School and she and her husband Greg reside in New Palestine, Indiana and have three sons; Hunter, Kegan and Kaelan.
